Suits and Skinny Men

It can be hard to dress a tall man and if done incorrectly, the man can end up looking somewhat clownish. For tall and slim men, this can be even harder. However, here are some easy tips to ensure elegance instead of silliness.

With fashions and styles changing on a daily basis it's very important that the tall slim man keeps up to date with the latest trends. Obviously it is also important that you feel relaxed and comfortable in the clothes that you wear.

Being relaxed and comfortable becomes more difficult if you are very tall and slim and is only possible if you wear a very well fitted suit. For a start, if you'll suit is ill fitting you will certainly not be relaxed because you will be so aware of how you look in your suit and self-conscious of it.

Since tall and slim men want to avoid looking delicate, a good fitting would help to avoid this problem. The right fabrics can go a long way and in this case, a more heavyweight material can create the illusion of broader shoulders or a larger frame. Materials such as heavier wools or tweeds are good for this purpose.

Lighter colors are very helpful in adding weight to a frame. Try to avoid colors such as navy or black, as they tend to have a more slimming effect. Light grays and light blues are good for tall and slim men.

Choosing clothes with horizontal stripes and patterns suits best for a taller slim man, even though bold horizontal stripes are hard to find and will enhance the frame. Avoid selecting vertical stripes in any sort of clothing you would prefer to wear as it would make you look skinnier.

Again, remember that fit matters. Baggy clothing can have the opposite effect; instead of looking slim, baggy clothing can make it look like you are drowning inside the suit. Tight clothing does not help either, as this tends to emphasize slimness.

Look for shoulder pads and choose a suit which does not have them. Having a shoulder pad inside your jacket will make you look even weirder, as it creates an illusion of broader shoulder with less body, giving a disproportionate look. Looking tall and skinny is much better than looking disproportionate.
