DUI: A Cause For Broken Relationships

Driving under the influence of alcohol is sometimes taken for granted by most people and they keep on drinking and driving all at once. Some may have avoided the authorities along the way and some may have not. However, people must know of the negative consequences of a DUI.

DUI is one of the major causes of road accidents. Due to the inability of the intoxicated driver to concentrate on the road, he may end up steering the vehicle towards innocent passersby while remaining oblivious to his surroundings. In the process people may get killed, and the driver himself might die as well.

It is unfortunate that so many lives can be ruined by bad decisions such as DUI. In these accidents there is prison time and that can destroy the whole family, not just the driver.

In addition, the families of all those involved in such an accident also go through the suffering from pain and loss. For example, if a person killed by a drunk driver was the sole provider of the family, then the family would suffer greatly because of the loss of the person and the income.

Despite of the laws and punishments set up by the government to scare people from committing these offenses, there are still too many who have nothing against drinking and driving. Some even take drugs before driving a car or while driving so that they can remain awake. The fact that these drugs are illegal because they do impair mental and physical abilities doesn't seem to bother everyone. However, there is not even a guarantee that drugs will keep you awake.

Some like to keep up a macho appearance, but that just attracts the authorities since they are always on the lookout for such people. This tough appearance only increases your chances of catching the attention of the police and you will only have trouble after a DUI charge.

The pains of going through imprisonment, paying a fine, and the suspension of your license are not worth the risk of driving while drinking or being high on drugs. This event not only affects you as a person but affects your whole family as well. At some point you might even be publicized for such an offense which would tarnish your name and your children's as well.

Take all the necessary precautions when you're out on the road. At times drinking could be enticed by friends or co-workers but the decision to drink lies with you. So before you find yourself holding a glass of whiskey, you better go home before you find yourself slumped on the steering wheel of your car.

Always remember that there is a corresponding penalty if you are caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. You might be imprisoned, fined, or your license would be suspended. You would even be exposed to bad publicity which could greatly hurt you as a person and your career. Added more, it is not only you who will suffer the consequences but your family as well.
